You know, half my family is from Maryland and most of the South. I grew up being called "Sugar" and "baby" and "Punkin"- yes, pronounced with the N, my entire life. I live in between two very large military installations. I am very accustomed to having doors held open for me and being addressed as ma'am by people my age and older. You wouldn't think so, considering I live just south of Seattle. Not very much southern hospitality going on.
I am not the type of girl that needs my chair pulled out or needs you to throw your jacket over a puddle so that I can walk across- why ruin a good jacket?! But honestly, would it kill guys to act like a gentleman every once in a while? I can't tell you how many times a guy has come up to me and used "Yo" before the rest of their sentence. Oh, my favorite was, "Is that a keg in your pants? Because I'd love to tap that ass!" I'm sorry, did you just call me fat? No thank you! Or what about, "Do you have a cell phone I can borrow?" Girl- "Why?" Idiot- "So I can call God and let Him know I found His missing angel." Really? Pretty sure God is screening your calls!
What happened to nice, genuine guys like Fred in Breakfast at Tiffany's?? Or Gerard Butler's character in P.S. I Love You?? I am such a girlie girl sometimes, but I like having doors opened for me. I also like it when a guy pays. I know, I know, it's 2010 and we're supposed to be independent. I am woman, hear me roar! I get it! I really do! I am not saying a guy has to pay every time, I would just like him to offer. I can definitely provide for myself, but it's nice to feel like you are being treated to something every now and then.
This was a really random post only written out of pure frustration and disgust at a large chunk of the male population. We are expected to be the wives, the moms. Take care of the house and take care of the children. What do we get in return??? So with that being said...
Where is my John Wayne?
Where is my prairie sun?
Where is my happy ending?
Where have all the Cowboys gone?
